The £50 Challenge: Making Every Pound Count for Rainbows Hospice

Our team is turning a £50 starter fund into meaningful support for children and families facing life-limiting illness.

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the incredible children’s charity Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, the team at Weiss Technik UK are stepping up to take part in the Franklin Solicitors £50 Challenge.

The concept is simple but powerful: each team starts with £50 and has just three months to turn it into as much as possible for charity. Businesses and community groups from Milton Keynes, Northampton and the surrounding areas will be putting their creativity, teamwork and fundraising skills to the test, all for causes that make a real difference locally.

Last year alone, the challenge raised an impressive £59,219 for 12 local charities. This year, we’re determined to play our part in pushing that figure even further.

To get the ball rolling, we’ll be transforming our initial £50 into a series of fundraising activities designed to bring colleagues together while supporting an incredible cause.

One of our first initiatives has been to start our very our tuck shop within the tech centre of the Weiss Technik UK office in Loughborough. This is just one of many fundraising activities we’ll be hosting to increase the initial seeding fund, with an event over the remaining two months to raise as much money as possible.

Ongoing Fundraising for Rainbows

Alongside the £50 Challenge, our team regularly finds creative ways to support Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People through a variety of ongoing fundraising efforts.

An office swear jar will now become a permanent fixture in the office, with every accidental slip of the tongue resulting in a small donation to the charity pot. It’s a light-hearted way of raising funds, and it has already been surprisingly effective.

Two particularly brave members of the team have also volunteered to undergo a leg wax, with colleagues donating to decide when the challenge takes place. While it may not be the most comfortable fundraising activity, it’s certainly helping to keep the momentum going, and the office entertained.

Through both the £50 Challenge and our wider fundraising activities, we’re proud to support the incredible work Rainbows does in providing specialist care and support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families across the East Midlands.

Why Rainbows?

Rainbows provides specialist care and support for babies, children and young people with serious or terminal illnesses, as well as their families. From end-of-life care and symptom management to short breaks and bereavement support, the charity helps families make precious memories in the most difficult circumstances.

For many families, Rainbows is a lifeline, offering not only expert medical care but also emotional support, safe spaces and moments of joy when they’re needed most. Knowing the impact this organisation has so close to our community is what makes every challenge we take part in so meaningful.

Having pledged to support Rainbows last year, the hospice has left a lasting impression on the team at Weiss Technik UK. Since then, colleagues have thrown themselves into fundraising challenges, from It’s a Knockout to the East Leake Triathlon, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones to raise as much as possible.

Supporting Rainbows also aligns closely with our values at Weiss Technik UK. As a business rooted in innovation and responsibility, we believe success should be measured not only by what we achieve in our industry, but by the positive impact we have beyond it. Backing a charity that supports children and families across our region is one small but important way we can give back.

Taking part in the Franklin Solicitors £50 Challenge is about more than fundraising, it’s about coming together as a community to support people who need it most. Every quiz ticket bought, raffle entry made and donation given will help Rainbows continue providing extraordinary care to children and young people with life-limiting conditions.

From all of us at Weiss Technik UK, thank you in advance for your support. With your help, we hope not only to meet our target, but to make a real and lasting difference.
