Fantastic 5 provide momentum in production

Internal competition at SST-GI boosts performance.

The team from Hall 025-3 scored the highest on Fantastic 5.
"With Fantastic 5, we're getting better every day - it's worth it!" says Managing Director Harald Arndt (center), here with Hermann Heinrich (l.) and Julian Lebeau (r.).

Not just Fantastic 4 like the superheroes from Marvel - at Sintermetalltechnik in Heuchelheim (SST-GI) there is now even Fantastic 5! But what is it all about? SST-GI has set out to create a learning organization with the goal of having no more accidents at work, no more waste, and getting process stability and quality to 100 percent. All employees work towards this vision by optimally coordinating all activities on the store floor, implementing them quickly and communicating them to the organization.

In very concrete terms, this is expressed in better key figures for occupational safety, idea management, non-quality costs, production excellence and productivity. And these are precisely the five disciplines that are recorded and compared on a quarterly basis for all work areas in production. The team with the best Fantastic 5 metrics receives a trophy and a free breakfast in recognition.

"It's worth it!"

"I know that it is demanding and often a challenge to master the five elements well every day," said Managing Director Harald Arndt when he presented the trophy to the winning team from Hall 025-3 for the first time. "But it is worth it! With Fantastic 5 we are getting better every day, customers give us extremely positive feedback. And that's why we also want to recognize your effort and honor it with this trophy."

And the Fantastic 5 are obviously motivating: since the beginning of the year, the number of accidents in production (excluding commuting accidents) has fallen from 6 last year to 0 at present. The number of complaints is significantly lower and productivity is better. In addition, numerous ProdEx measures have been implemented and production optimized. The Fantastic 5 may not unleash quite the superpowers as the Marvel heroes - but it's pretty close!
