Weiss Technik Supply A Chassis Dynometer Test Chamber For The Leading Automotive Group
Weiss Technik is underway on the build of a second automotive test chamber for the Mahle Centre of Excellence in Northampton. Production is underway on a Chassis Dynamometer Test Chamber that will complement the existing Altitude Test Chamber already supplied by Weiss Technik to the test facility in the UK’s Midlands region.
MAHLE is a leading international development partner and supplier to the automotive industry with strong expertise in the areas of air management, filtration, thermal management and power electronics. The MAHLE Centre For Excellence in Northampton houses a state-of-the-art climatic vehicle emissions test centre. MAHLE Powertrain works with vehicle manufacturers across the world offering a broad range of test services to the automotive industry.
With the production and installation of the Chassis Dynometer Test Chamber, MAHLE Powertrain plans to concentrate the existing test chamber to perform altitude tests while the new unit will take over the climatic tests currently also performed in the Altitude Chamber to increase testing capacity on site.
An integral hydrogen safety system for EV testing of hydrogen fuel cells was one challenge of design that was overcome during this project. Additional Solar Simulation testing to SC03 standards will also be possible with the bespoke solution provided by Weiss to create a mobile system that can be used in both chambers which helps the group broaden the testing facilities available.
